Football Tips for the Premier League

(Latest Tips Here!)

The Premier League is one of the most exciting football competitions in the world — and one of the hardest to predict. With quality throughout the league, surprise results are never far away, which makes doing a little homework important when looking at football tips.

A good Premier League football tip shouldn't simply be based on which team sits higher in the table. Recent form, injuries, home advantage, goalscoring records and even how busy a team's fixture schedule has been can all influence what happens on matchday.

Look at Recent Form

League position tells you what has happened across the season, but recent form can give a better indication of how a team is performing right now.

Looking at the previous five or six matches can highlight teams gaining momentum as well as clubs beginning to struggle. It's also worth looking beyond the final scores — a team can lose several matches while still creating plenty of chances.

Home and Away Records

Some Premier League clubs are considerably stronger at home than they are away.

Before making a prediction, compare the home team's record at its own stadium with the opposition's away performances. Goals scored, goals conceded and clean sheets can reveal patterns that aren't immediately obvious from the overall league table.

Check the Team News

A late injury can completely change the outlook of a match.

Missing a leading goalscorer, first-choice goalkeeper or influential midfielder can have a significant impact, so checking injuries, suspensions and expected starting line-ups before kick-off is always worthwhile.

Rotation can also become important when clubs are competing in the Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup or League Cup alongside their Premier League commitments.

Don't Just Predict the Winner

Football tips don't necessarily have to mean picking which team will win.

There are plenty of other ways to analyse a Premier League fixture, including both teams to score, total goals, clean sheets, corners and individual player statistics.

A match between two attacking teams with questionable defensive records, for example, might be more interesting from a goals perspective than trying to predict the final result.

Head-to-Head Records

Previous meetings can provide useful context, particularly when certain teams regularly produce similar types of matches.

However, head-to-head statistics shouldn't be relied upon too heavily. Managers change, players move clubs and teams evolve quickly. A match played three years ago may have very little relevance to the teams walking onto the pitch today.

Look at the Bigger Picture

Context matters.

Is one team fighting relegation? Is another chasing the title? Has a club just played 120 minutes in Europe three days earlier? Is an important Champions League fixture coming next?

Motivation, fatigue and fixture congestion can all affect team selection and performance.

Avoid Betting With Your Heart

Supporting a football club can make objective predictions surprisingly difficult.

Your favourite team might be brilliant. They might also be terrible on Tuesday nights away from home.

Try to separate loyalty from the numbers and judge every fixture on the information available.

There Are No Guaranteed Football Tips

Perhaps the most important football tip is remembering that there is no such thing as a guaranteed winner.

Football is unpredictable. Red cards, penalties, injuries, refereeing decisions and moments of individual brilliance can completely change a match.

Statistics and research can help you make a more informed decision, but they can never guarantee the outcome.

That's part of what makes the Premier League so entertaining in the first place.

City Lynx tip: Check recent form, home and away records, team news and goals statistics before making your selections — and never rely on one statistic alone.
